Less than six months ago my property managers presented me with a bill for $347.80 for installing in my Sydney unit a new light switch which retails at BUNNINGS for $8.75 - click here.
Last month a venetian blind also needed replacing. It costs anywhere from $33 to $51 in a retail shop. Care to have a guess what those repair people that team up with real estate property managers charged for it? $258.24 plus 10% GST. And, of course, $115 plus 10% GST for "installation" (or removing the old one and inserting the new one into the existing clips).
As I wrote to the property managers: "It makes the much talked-about NDIS rip-offs look absolutely benign. If another venetian blind gets damaged because of rough handling by the tenant (which is the only reason they could get damaged), please don't replace it!"
